A river, birdsong or warm sunlight may be labelled pleasant almost before it is noticed; a horn, construction noise or bodily discomfort may be rejected with equal speed.

The script listens for the second event as carefully as the first: not only the sound or sensation, but the mind leaning towards it or pushing it away.

That same movement is then recognised inside conversation, where an idea can be welcomed or resisted before it has been understood.

Pleasant and unpleasant remain real qualities, yet neither has to seize control of the next response.

Mindfulness appears in the narrow space between receiving an experience and automatically obeying the verdict attached to it.

This mindfulness meditation supports emotional balance and greater awareness of how the mind responds to pleasant and unpleasant experience.

Everyday sensations and events naturally produce preferences.

Difficulty develops when the urge to hold onto comfort or escape discomfort begins controlling attention and behaviour.

As the audio unfolds, the listener is guided through changing sounds, sensations and internal responses.

The emphasis remains upon noticing the quality of experience and the reaction that follows, rather than deciding that one response is correct.

As relaxation deepens, pleasant and unpleasant moments can both be observed with greater steadiness.

The listener develops more space between what appears and the automatic impulse to grasp, resist or judge it.

The purpose is not to become indifferent or deny genuine discomfort.

It is to recognise reactions clearly enough that they no longer need to dictate every next movement.

The process is mostly passive, making this an accessible exercise in mindful observation rather than intellectual analysis.

People often return to this track when emotional reactions feel immediate, discomfort is difficult to tolerate or they want a more balanced relationship with the constantly changing texture of experience.
