About Stuart Newman and EnTrance
Stuart Newman did not come to hypnosis through clinics, coaching, or the modern wellness industry. He came to it through sound.
Before EnTrance, he had already spent decades in music, documentary production, and professional audio, learning how tone, timing, silence, repetition, and atmosphere can affect people more deeply than words on their own.
That background shaped EnTrance from the start. It was never built as a glossy self-help brand or a wellness product chasing a trend. It grew out of lived experience, and a serious interest in what happens when audio is made well enough to alter internal state.

EnTrance began after Stuart met fellow musician Mick Crudge and the two realised they shared more than just music tastes. Both had found something real in hypnosis, and quickly saw how well their skills fitted together.
Hollie joined soon after, and EnTrance became a three-voice system, with sessions built in a more modular and ambitious way than most products in the space at the time: different voices, sleep or wake endings, long-form depth, and a structure designed to be returned to rather than simply used and forgotten.

In many ways, EnTrance arrived early. The original plan was to power a flexible app built around maximum user choice, but the funding never arrived and the sector later became dominated by subscription-led giants such as Calm and Headspace, while Michael Sealey became one of the clearest examples of large-scale YouTube hypnosis done well.
That did not make the original instinct wrong. If anything, it pointed to a real need. EnTrance simply answered it from a different angle.
Where much of modern wellness has been shortened to suit fragmented lifestyles, EnTrance stayed rooted in long-form relaxation. The thinking was straightforward: if someone is stressed, mentally overloaded, or new to hypnosis, they often need more than a few minutes to settle properly.

For Stuart, that belief was personal as well as professional. He had used hypnosis himself and has spoken openly about long-term sobriety, and about recorded hypnosis having played a significant role in his own journey of change.
From there he studied the techniques of the strongest material he could find, learning from figures such as Lee Pulos, Paul Scheele, Dick Sutphen, Paul McKenna and, later, Michael Sealey, while bringing his own broadcast audio standards into the work. The result was not simply script over music, but carefully built audio designed to create trust as well as depth.

Over time, EnTrance grew quietly but globally, passing 190 million streams across all platforms. That figure matters less as a boast than as proof that people kept coming back. One listener put it well: “Utterly amazing! I’ve used and paid for many hypnosis CDs, tapes, etc. But this is truly a first class production and I do go very deep.”

Then the project changed shape in the hardest possible way. Mick died in a tragic accident. His contribution remains foundational, and his voice, along with Hollie’s, still lives on in the archive across YouTube and Bandcamp.
Today EnTrance continues as a solo project, with Stuart carrying it forward in the same spirit: long-form, mostly passive, carefully structured audio designed to lower inner resistance and make change easier without force, theatre, or inflated promises.

Stuart is not a typical hypnotist, preferring the label Relaxational Audio Designer. EnTrance is not trying to pitch itself like one either.
It comes from an audio-driven world shaped by recovery, independent production, music documentaries, and a practical respect for what actually helps.
EnTrance does not promise instant transformation. It does not ask for blind belief. It offers something simpler than that: well-made audio you can own, return to, and use properly over time.
Questions and answers
What is EnTrance?
EnTrance is a long-form relaxation and hypnosis audio system designed to help people settle deeply enough for internal change to become easier. It is built to be kept and returned to, rather than rented through a subscription.
Why was it created?
Because Stuart and Mick both knew hypnosis could be genuinely useful, and both felt there was room for better-crafted, better-produced work in the space.
What makes it different from apps like Calm or Headspace?
EnTrance was never built around short, convenience-first sessions and recurring subscriptions. Its core belief is that deeper settling often needs more time.
What makes it different from standard hypnosis recordings?
Partly the production quality, partly the long-form structure, and partly the fact that it was built by someone with years of professional sound experience who had studied the strongest recordings in the field.
Is listening active or passive?
Mostly passive. That is intentional. EnTrance is designed to place very little demand on the listener.
Do I need to hear every word?
No. Trying too hard can get in the way. You do not need to consciously catch every line for the session to be useful. In fact, you may find it hard not to drift off while listening.
Is it for everyone?
No. Nothing honest is for everyone. But it may suit people who want something deeper, calmer, and less generic than mainstream wellness content.
Are Mick and Hollie still part of EnTrance?
Yes. They remain a vital part of its history, and their voices can still be heard in the archive on YouTube and Bandcamp.
Does EnTrance make big promises?
No. It does not claim instant fixes or mystical powers, and it is not presented as a replacement for therapy or medical care.
Why do people come back to it?
Because many listeners find the value is in repetition, familiarity, and depth rather than one dramatic listen.
What if I prefer ongoing access?
We are leaving open the yearly Bandcamp subscription option for a short period.
Are personalised or private sessions available with Stuart?
Personalised download sessions are in the pipeline. Private sessions are extremely rare, but Stuart does occasionally take on clients for intense bespoke session work.
